Cole Palmer reveals trait he would steal from Manchester United legend, he’s following in his footsteps
Cole Palmer has revealed the trait he would steal from Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo after recently following in his footsteps.
Cole Palmer‘s career exploded this time last year following the player’s £40 million move from Manchester City to Chelsea in the summer of 2023.
Palmer scored 27 goals last season, including three against Manchester United. He also provided 15 assists and broke into the England squad, where he scored in the 2024 European Championship final.

Alongside United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, Palmer was one of six players nominated for the 2024 PFA Young Player of the Season award. The young English forward was announced as the winner earlier this week.
Palmer, a lifelong United fan, has become well-known in England for his explosivity and brilliance on the ball. He was the most potent threat in a Chelsea side that finished 12th in the Premier League table.
Speaking to GOAL during the awards ceremony, Palmer was asked which trait he would steal from several players, including Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he grew up watching as an aspiring young player.
Palmer responded that, of all Ronaldo’s brilliant traits, his work rate was the one he would choose to gain. The video can be viewed below.
Ronaldo’s work rate is widely regarded as the greatest the sport has ever seen, with the player still going strong at the age of 39, with the player aiming to play in the 2026 World Cup with Portugal in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
While Palmer, Mainoo, and Garnacho all headlined the award, the other three nominees the Chelsea forward beat out were former Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, Brighton’s João Pedro, and Arsenal talisman Bukayo Saka.
Palmer is somewhat following in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo following his PFA award. Ronaldo claimed the award in 2008 after winning the Premier League and Champions League with United at the age of 22.
He scored 42 goals and collected eight assists that year. He was also awarded the prestigious Ballon d’Or that season.
