Unable to help Manchester United on the pitch during the Carabao Cup final win against Newcastle, Christian Eriksen expresses his feelings while watching from the stands and provides an update on his injury.

When Erik ten Hag said, “eras come to an end”, there was a sense of poignancy about it. Whether that comes to pass remains to be seen, what can be said without a shadow of a doubt is that a new era dawns upon Old Trafford.

The Dutch manager has successfully broken the trophy drought at Manchester United. Instrumental to the progress of the team on the pitch were the new signings that were brought to Manchester to kick off the Dutchman’s reign.

Amongst the slate of those signings was Danish international Christian Eriksen. The creative passer joined as a free agent having mutually terminated his contract with Inter Milan due to Italian football regulations preventing him from playing for them with his defibrillator.

Eriksen was a key part of Ten Hag’s United side, operating not from his usual attacking midfield position but from deeper in midfield. He was so instrumental to the side’s build-up play that the manager could not afford to rest him as much as he may have liked.

Eriksen was vital to this new look Manchester United and to date notched two goals and nine assists across all competitions.

Unfortunately, Eriksen’s season was cut short when he was injured by a rash challenge by Reading’s Andy Carroll in an FA Cup tie.

Despite that, Eriksen was in Wembley to support his club from the stands and expressed his desire to have competed in the final. He even remarked to MUTV that “watching from the stands is more nerve-racking than actually playing, but I kept my calm, and it is nice to see how happy they are. I am just happy that we won the game.”

Eriksen’s sentiment was certainly shared by the rest of United’s injured regiment. The club will be eager for others like Anthony Martial to return soon so they can assist on the pitch in what is a packed fixture list for United, with the club having won one competition thus far and still competing in three others.

Eriksen provided an update on his recovery process, saying: “I am feeling well. It is always boring to be in a boot and to be on crutches, but I have left the crutches and am now only in a boot, and next week that should be gone then finally start learning to walk. But it feels good.”

We wish you a speedy recovery, Christian. Now, back to celebrating this trophy!
