Christian Eriksen has explained the one thing he feels Manchester United players are so lucky to have, and it could prove a difference-maker for Rúben Amorim.
Christian Eriksen is departing Manchester United at the end of the month after three years at the club.
Eriksen signed as a free agent after leaving Brentford and made 107 appearances for United under Erik ten Hag and Rúben Amorim, winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in that time.
Scoring eight goals and providing 19 assists across his three years at the club, Eriksen’s career at Old Trafford started with him creating a fantastic relationship with Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes. However, an ankle injury in January 2023 hampered him.
Although the Danish international captain was never quite able to secure his place back in the starting XI, he remained a consistent creative player at United and will be fondly remembered by fans.
Eriksen sends emotional message to United fans
Eriksen’s final appearance for United saw him play 24 minutes in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa, in which he scored the second goal from the penalty spot. Speaking to club media after the game, Eriksen was asked to give a final message to the club’s fans.
“Just a huge thank you,” he replied. “I mean, I think you’ve shown this season, and I think the players have been surprised at how good the fans have been.
“In a tough, tough season, they’ve really been standing behind us, and I think they’ve done that through the years I’ve been here as well. Even at home and away, they’ve always been supportive, no matter what the circumstances have been.
“So, yeah, I think the players are lucky to have them as fans. Yeah, I think the people, also the players, know that now. They’ll play for the fans like they’ve always done.
“I hope there’ll be good times ahead, like the manager was saying, hopefully. And then also, together with the fans, I’m sure they’ll have a bright future.”
The fans could be the difference for United next season
While the club have been actively seeking significant attacking reinforcements in the starting XI so far this summer, with Matheus Cunha through the door and Bryan Mbeumo not far behind, there are other factors at play next season.

There has been some debate as to whether Amorim is the right man to lead United forward, considering the disastrous campaign in 2024/25 that saw the club finish 15th in the Premier League table, although the head coach has been adamant that next season will get better.
United’s Europa League campaign last season was an emotional rollercoaster, with many of the players crediting fans with their immense support as being a huge factor in the side’s ability to perform when their backs were against the wall.
If the fans, who Eriksen rightly claims the players are “lucky to have,” can continue this support into the start of next season, the atmosphere they create at Old Trafford could be the difference maker for Amorim.
