Christian Eriksen completely agrees with Wayne Rooney about “unhappy” Manchester United teammate

Manchester United star Christian Eriksen has joined Wayne Rooney in providing a defence for the out-of-form Rasmus Højlund.
Rasmus Højlund is having an extremely difficult season for Manchester United and is currently on a 20-match goalless run.
The Dane has scored seven goals in all competitions this term but just two of those have come in the Premier League campaign.
With shattered confidence in an underperforming team, it isn’t exactly easy to find form as the United striker but Højlund is not helping himself.
After coming off the bench on the weekend against Arsenal, the forward had a golden opportunity to score a winning goal after a brilliant tackle from Casemiro landed to him inside the box.
The chance was ruined after a good tackle from Declan Rice, but the lack of awareness and sharpness from United’s no.9 when the ball landed to him was staggering.
Eriksen agrees with Rooney on Højlund
With poor form comes criticism, especially at United, and it is no different for Højlund, who is being slammed by many fans and pundits for his goalscoring drought.
Earlier this week, club legend Wayne Rooney came to the defence of the under-fire Højlund and claimed that he has “faith in him” to come good at Old Trafford.
The 39-year-old also suggested that Højlund has not been getting enough service as the striker at United, which is something that many fans agree with.
Rooney’s claims are something that United midfielder Christian Eriksen clearly agrees with after the Dane spoke to Sky Sports this week.
Asked about his teammate’s difficulties in front of goal, Eriksen stated that he is “confident” Højlund will overcome his issues despite being “unhappy” with his current form. The ex-Spurs star also shared the blame across the team for United’s goalscoring issues.
“I am pretty confident that he will come good,” Eriksen told Sky Sports. “He is a hard-working guy and he is unhappy when he doesn’t score goals.
“But you can name about ten other players in the team who don’t score enough goals. He is a good kid, he will be fine.”
Højlund deserves time out of firing line
United fans are calling for Højlund to be dropped from the team and he was put onto the bench for the last game against Arsenal.
However, as a 22-year-old striker who is still relatively fresh to the professional game, Højlund also deserves that time out of the firing line.

Despite the excessive price tag, it shouldn’t be a huge story if the Dane spends some time out of the team. But due to the lack of options, it isn’t really an decision that Amorim can afford to make right now.
Things are certainly going to change next season, and perhaps Højlund will benefit from having weight lifted off his shoulders.
