Christian Eriksen and Ruben Amorim have agreed with each other about one “quality” Manchester United player.

Patrick Dorgu, 20, joined Manchester United in the January transfer window as an immediate reinforcement at wingback under Ruben Amorim.

Before his arrival this season, Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui, and Tyrell Malacia had all featured in the wingback role, emphasising the need for an upgrade.

With his attacking mindset and ability to create danger going forward, Dorgu has made an impressive start to his career at Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old has been one of United’s standout performers in his three appearances so far, especially in the 2-2 draw against Everton.

Eriksen praises Dorgu’s start at United

Christian Eriksen has been speaking to United’s club media about his new club teammate and the Danish captain has been full of praise.

Eriksen had already played alongside Dorgu on a couple of occasions for their national team – Dorgu scored on his debut for Denmark against Switzerland last year.

“I think you’ve seen already what he can bring,” replied Eriksen when asked about the 20-year-old last week.

“He’s an athletic full-back and a good player on the ball that likes to go forward. And yeah, he’s a very nice guy. There’s not many Danish guys who aren’t nice guys!

“I think he fits in well. He has to get used to everything in the Prem and at this club, but he’s in good hands and I think he’ll do really well.”

Amorim shares similar praise for Dorgu impact

Amorim has recently shared similar praise for his first major signing at the club.

Dorgu has slotted in very nicely for United and Amorim will be hoping to secure more signings like him in the future.

Despite initially claiming that the player can operate on both flanks, Amorim has admitted that the Dane is looking more suited to the left side right now.

“He has the pace, he has the quality, he can play both sides, but he’s playing on the left,” the United boss said ahead of the upcoming game against Ipswich Town.

“I think he’s feeling a little bit more free. He’s going to be a very good player for us now and in the future.

“He’s playing really well in the context that it is really hard, but he’s showing a lot of things that we thought [about] when we bring a player like him in – a young player.”
