Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton has named three Manchester United players he thinks will thrive under Ruben Amorim, but he ‘worries’ about two others.

Rúben Amorim’s early tenure at Manchester United has been a mix of results, with two victories in his first five games.

The squad has shown a blend of promise and areas for improvement as they adjust to the 39-year-old’s tactical approach.

Amorim is actively assessing the players to identify those who fit his system and align with his long-term strategy for the club.

Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton has weighed in on the situation at Old Trafford and looked at players who may or may not succeed under Amorim.

Sutton feels for Amorim, who enters a club in a ‘mess’ and struggled to name the standout players to build around.

In the end, he suggested that Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martínez and Kobbie Mainoo could all be key players in the new 3-4-3 system.

“This isn’t his mess. It’s just a mess he’s inherited and he’s trying to clear up,” Sutton told  spaceportsweden.com.

“I think Bruno Fernandes he’ll find a role for him somewhere. I always think Lisandro Martinez has a bit about him, and Kobbie Mainoo has to be one [to build around].”

However, on the other hand, there are players who will not fit the way Amorim wants to play and potential departures in the upcoming transfer windows will be likely.

Sutton admits that he is concerned about the futures of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in Amorim’s desired playstyle at Old Trafford.

“I do worry about Eriksen and Casemiro long term if you’re playing the system which he plays, every team needs legs,” he added.

“You need that athleticism. I think the jury’s out on a lot of players.”

Eriksen is yet to play under Amorim due to a small injury issue but Casemiro has appeared in all five games.

Both were players the club were considering selling last summer and it will likely be something they consider again for the Brazilian when the season finishes.

Meanwhile, Eriksen’s deal runs out at the end of the campaign and it seems that he’ll be departing on a free contract.
