Manchester United starlet Chido Obi-Martin’s coach has revealed one thing which ‘sets him apart’ from other talents in his age-group.

Chido Obi-Martin joined Manchester United from Arsenal earlier this season after deciding against continuing with the North London side.

Obi-Martin made an immediate impact at his new club, netting a 13-minute hat-trick on his full U18s debut against Nottingham Forest after a lengthy spell out of action due to the complications of the move.

Since then, he has become the all-time top goalscorer in U18 Premier League history and has also earned a place in the club’s Under-21s squad.

At the beginning of December, he came off the bench against National League side Rochdale and provided the assist for the winning goal.

After signing his first professional contract on his 17th birthday at the end of November, Obi-Martin will be eager to continue his progress and catch the attention of Ruben Amorim.

His determination to improve his game further was shown on social media last week where clips emerged of him doing individual sessions with RH Elite Coaching.

Ryan Hopper has worked with some of United’s top talent, including Marcus Rashford, Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes.

The coach was asked about what sets Obi-Martin apart from his age-mates after working closely with him on the training pitch.

Speaking to Stretford Paddock on YouTube, Hopper explained: “I think it’s consistency.

“With the scenarios that I was putting him in, everything was in areas where I feel – having looked at his game – [we should] put him in those areas because that’s where he exploits the most.

“The attention to detail in terms of his finishing, variation of finishing, when and where to use certain techniques and that’s on both sides as well.

“There was a lot of coaching and a lot of detail but the fundamentals were certainly there in those areas. On a regular basis, his decision making was very, very good.”
