Chido Obi Martin breaks silence on Manchester United signing Arsenal starlet Ayden Heaven with cheeky message
Manchester United are set to secure the signing of Arsenal starlet Ayden Heaven after agreeing a deal with the young defender this week.
The Reds are yet to have confirmed an incoming signing this window despite there being several outgoings for loan players.
Antony has moved to Real Betis while several young stars like Ethan Wheatley and Ethan Ennis have gone lower down the pyramid to secure game-time.
United are looking to make signings and it appears that a deal has been agreed to bring Patrick Dorgu to the club from Lecce for around £24 million.
However, the club have also pounced on a market opportunity for the talented Arsenal defender Ayden Heaven.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Heaven has agreed terms with United, having turned down a contract extension from Arsenal and an offer from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 18-year-old centre-back is set to undergo his medical soon, the journalist adds, finalising an unexpected move to Old Trafford.
Obi Martin breaks silence on United signing Heaven
Heaven is not the first young star from Arsenal to join the Reds in recent time, with Chido Obi Martin making the same move earlier this season.
It was a very similar scenario, with Obi Martin rejecting proposals from Arsenal and clubs in the Bundesliga to make his dream move to United.
The pair played together for Arsenal’s Under-18s and had built a close relationship, which will likely continue when Heaven starts working at Carrington.
Obi Martin has made an excellent start to life at the club, impressing in the youth teams, and will be delighted to see that Heaven has made the same move he did.
That was shown from the young striker’s social media activity after reports emerged that a deal had been agreed for Heaven to join United.
Obi Martin took to TikTok, where he uploaded a video of the pair celebrating during their time together at Arsenal, with a cheeky caption reading, ‘Agent Obi’.
Heaven considered as first-team signing for United
While Heaven will be joining Obi Martin at United, he may not be training with the Under-21s star at Carrington.
Reports have suggested that Heaven is being considered as a first-team signing for Amorim’s squad, and so it would be safe to assume he will immediately start training with them.
Obi Martin has had occasional training sessions with Amorim’s squad but the club are taking the 17-year-old’s progression with caution.
However, Heaven will be considered as an alternative and backup to Lisandro Martínez on the left side of United’s back three. He is left-footed and extremely comfortable on the ball, having spent his younger years in midfield.

Nevertheless, it will probably not be long until the pair are playing together once again, with Obi Martin developing quickly in the Academy at Carrington.
