Exciting 16-year-old talent Chido Obi Martin has agreed to join Manchester United from Arsenal this summer.

Obi Martin was considered the best academy talent the Gunners had at the club after scoring 32 goals for the Under-18s last season.

However, he did not sign with the London-based club on scholarship terms and began to look elsewhere for his future, which included a visit to United’s Carrington training facilities.

Fabrizio Romano provided the ‘Here We Go’ for the move on Thursday evening, a day after Obi Martin confirmed his Arsenal exit on Instagram.

He wrote: “I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone at Arsenal for the past four years.

“The experiences and growth I’ve achieved here have been truly invaluable. A special thanks to the coaches, staff, and teammates at Hale End. The memories made will always be remembered.

“Thank you once again for this journey. I wish everyone continued success and all the best for the future.”

Despite this, after a bizarre report from a Nigerian outlet claiming that Obi Martin was going to receive £30,000 per week at Old Trafford, Arsenal fans flooded the comments in an uncomfortable fashion.

Many of those were negative comments about the player being a ‘money grabber’. It was later clarified by Fabrizio Romano that the young forward turned down bigger wage packets from Bundesliga clubs to join the Reds.

Sky Sports also explained that the move was not because of money. Romano added that his main reason for wanting an exit was the lack of a pathway to first-team football at Arsenal.

One of the comments on the post said, “Based on these comments you Arsenal fans don’t deserve this guy,” and it was liked by Obi Martin.

United will be excited to see what the young striker can produce at the club, with him likely to start in the Under-18s.

It was also confirmed by MUFC_Youth on X that United have reached a full agreement to sign Samuel Lusale from Crystal Palace after the 16-year-old winger rejected a scholarship offer.
