Casemiro’s suspension details revealed after Manchester United red card vs Chelsea as clarification over appeal

Casemiro was sent off for the fourth time in his Manchester United career against Chelsea as the Reds secured a 2-1 victory.

Manchester United came out confidently against Chelsea on Saturday evening despite a week of criticism, with Ruben Amorim’s side pressing hard from the start.

Robert Sánchez was sent off after just five minutes for fouling Bryan Mbeumo, and United quickly took control as Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro made it 2–0.

The game turned just before half-time when Casemiro received a second yellow card, leaving United with ten men and giving Chelsea hope. Although Trevoh Chalobah pulled one back with a late header, United held firm to secure the win.

United would have been hoping for a much easier victory but the decision from Casemiro to go into a tackle whilst on a yellow card made it much more difficult.

Casemiro’s suspension details revealed after United red card

Casemiro has now received four red cards since he arrived at Old Trafford, although this was the first since October 2023.

Since the Brazilian’s dismissal was for two bookable offences, he will only receive a one-match ban rather than missing three games, meaning he will be unavailable for the visit to Brentford next week.

Although, some fans have suggested that the second booking which saw Casemiro take an early exit from the game was harsh.

Even if that is the case, United would be unable to appeal the decision as the Premier League do not accept appeals for sending offs from two yellow cards.

Casemiro’s next game for the Reds will be on Saturday, October 4 when United host Sunderland at Old Trafford in their final game before the next international break.

Mainoo should get chance in Casemiro’s absence

Kobbie Mainoo was sent to warm up early in the first-half on the weekend, almost immediately after Casemiro was booked for the first time.

But when the Brazilian was sent off, Amorim ended up deciding that Manuel Ugarte was the better option to help United hold onto the result. Mainoo didn’t come on until the final stages of the game.

It is an understandable switch due to the situation of the game but Mainoo simply deserves more minutes than he is getting. Ugarte has failed to impress in any of his appearances this season.

Mainoo should be getting an opportunity in these upcoming games against Sunderland and Brentford, especially with Casemiro out of action for the next clash.
