Casemiro: This is why I love Manchester United

Casemiro has explained that the affection he receives from both from the club and fans is the reason he loves Manchester United.

Since his £60 million signing from Real Madrid last summer, Casemiro has been an absolute fan favourite at Manchester United.

From goals in important fixtures to consistent brilliant defensive performances, he has revolutionised Erik ten Hag’s midfield.

Casemiro’s introduction into the Premier League has been fantastic, and it seems he has enjoyed it just as much as fans have enjoyed him so far at the club.

“Everyone at the club has always been very affectionate,” he explained to Placar. “I felt loved from day one, which wasn’t easy after spending ten years at Real Madrid.

“It’s the result of the work on the field, it was a very good mix of fans, employees, players, and this has been very important for my adaptation.”

Casemiro has been a leader in the dressing room since he signed for the club, and his influence is obvious. Speaking on leadership, the Brazilian has explained that he enjoys the role.

“I like having this role, yes, to be honest. Being a leader, caring, being like a father, going after things, I like to set an example, be the first to arrive, I like to play this role.

“The captain’s [armband] is nothing more than a symbol, but the players have the responsibility to talk to the referee, to the players – I like to be that example player.”

Speaking further on the love he feels, he explained that he was happily surprised with how quickly he was accepted by the fans.

“Of course everyone wants to have the affection and respect, they want to mark an era of titles, but I did not imagine that it would be so fast, this is very gratifying and has been surprising.”
