Casemiro says Man United starlet can ‘define an era’ in enormous praise
Casemiro believes that 20-year-old striker Rasmus Hojlund can ‘define an era’ at Manchester United as the Brazilian backs his teammate for long-term success.
The Reds have found difficulties in front of goal this term, particularly in the Premier League, and there has been building pressure on new signing Hojlund.
Hojlund, 20, joined the Old Trafford club in the summer and has scored just one goal in the league. He has netted five times in the Champions League, however.
Casemiro has urged supporters and critics to ease the pressure on the youngster and let him adapt to his new team and league.
“At the end of the day, he’s just a kid, so we shouldn’t be putting a lot of pressure on him,” The Brazilian said. “A lot of people think that he should be coming in and scoring 30-odd goals right away.
“He’s still young, and this is his first season in the Premier League.”
Casemiro was visibly impressed with Hojlund on his Manchester United debut, where he made an impact against Arsenal’s backline with his physicality. The Brazilian was seen grabbing the young forward in an encouraging manner after winning a corner.
He was involved in the build-up for Alejandro Garnacho’s disallowed goal and a controversial penalty decision from the referee when play was waved on after the Dane was thrown to the ground by Gabriel.
“Regarding the footage you mentioned, I was really happy with his attitude,” added Casemiro after watching footage from Hojlund’s debut. ” The thing is, it’s really difficult when you come on in such a demanding game, as games against Arsenal are.
“When he entered the fray, he contributed a lot, changing our dynamic, so I tried to express to him just how I was feeling,” added the midfielder, who has recently returned to the training pitch.
“He’s definitely playing better in every game, and he’s working really hard. Rasmus is a dedicated lad and he’s keen to kick on.
“He’ll be a great player for this club and, with the ambitions he has, he could define an era at Manchester United.”
