Casemiro is reportedly causing Sir Jim Ratcliffe a “nightmare” at Manchester United over a potential sale, according to reports.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are set to assume all sporting control of Manchester United, with a big influence over transfers both in and out of the club.

After heavy spending so far under the reign of Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, United are becoming constricted by financial fair play rules, meaning the club will have to sell assets in order to sign new players in the summer.

Many players are set to leave United in the coming months, such as Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, and Mason Greenwood, while there are currently heavy question marks over others, such as Raphaël Varane and Jadon Sancho.

Another player who may be heading out the exit door this summer is Casemiro, with multiple reports suggesting that United are open to offers for the 31-year-old.

However, despite this, The Sun explain that Ratcliffe has been made aware that the Brazilian is currently sitting on £350,000 a week with another two and a half years left on his contract, which has made it hard to move him on.

The point has been made that not many, or even any, clubs would desire to match or bid close to this salary for a player who is on the decline of his career, which is reportedly giving Ratcliffe a “nightmare” surrounding moving him on.

INEOS are keen to either get rid of or reduce the wages of many of United’s big-contract players, with the club still in talks with Varane about a new contract on a reduced salary. Casemiro falls in this bracket, but a new contract on a lesser wage is a harder sell when there are still over two years left on the current one.

Casemiro recently returned to training at Carrington after recovering from a hamstring injury for over two months.
