Three Manchester United stars have reacted as Marcus Rashford scored twice during Aston Villa’s FA Cup win over Preston North End in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Marcus Rashford opened his account for Aston Villa at last, scoring his first goals for the club since joining on loan from Manchester United two months ago.
The Carrington Academy graduate was handed a start by Unai Emery and made the most of it, helping Villa secure a 3-0 win over Preston North End and book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals, where they’ll face Crystal Palace at Wembley.
Rashford broke the deadlock with a tidy first-time finish, steering Lucas Digne’s low cross past goalkeeper David Cornell. He doubled his tally just minutes later from the penalty spot, calmly sending Cornell the wrong way.
Jacob Ramsey wrapped up the win with a powerful run through Preston’s midfield and a composed finish to seal Villa’s progression.
XX United stars react to Rashford’s 19-word message
Following the result, Rashford left a 19-word message to those who follow him on Instagram, saying, “I am buzzing to finally get my first Villa goals and help the team progress to the semi finals,” accompanied with a heart emoji.
He also left a message to celebrate Mother’s Day and wish Eid Mubarak to those who are celebrating the Muslim holiday.
Following his message, several United players reacted to the loanee’s performance, with Joshua Zirkzee, Diogo Dalot, Leny Yoro, and others liking the post shortly after it was uploaded.
Rashford also saw praise from several of his current teammates, with Youri Tielemans commenting “well done you” with a fire emoji and hands up emoji.
Lucas Digne also contributed three fire emojis, with Marco Asensio also commenting a slightly excessive number of emojis with two fires, a pair of clapping hands, and two footballs.
Several United fans also praised the Academy graduate for his performance, and Villa fans asked him to repeat it when Rashford’s side face Paris St. Germain in the Champions League later this month.
Rashford finally picking up form
With Rashford finally picking up his form for both Villa and England, this is good news for United as it may pursuiade Villa to activate the £40 million buy option in his loan contract.
Speaking about Rashford after the Preson win, former England goalkeeper Joe Hart commented: “You are constantly being asked questions at the top and maybe Rashford found himself in a lull but he has come here with people around him that know what they are doing.
“He hasn’t come here with question marks about how he is going to behave and what he is going to do and how he can change the team.
“When he was at Manchester United towards the end of his career there it was constantly where and how is he going to play. Nobody questions Unai Emery.
“He isn’t questioned in the media because he has established himself and where he is asked to play he will play with quality and with clear instruction.”
