Burnley boss Scott Parker warns his team about three “exceptional” Manchester United stars ahead of Premier League clash

Burnley boss Scott Parker has warned his team about three “exceptional” Manchester United stars ahead of their Premier League clash.

Manchester United kicked off their season with a 1-0 loss to Arsenal, but despite the defeat, the performance was encouraging and showed plenty of positives.

In their following match away at Fulham, they were held to a 1-1 draw. Although they came away with a point, the display was far from convincing and raised fresh concerns.

The situation worsened in the Carabao Cup, where United endured an embarrassing penalty shootout defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town. After falling 2-0 behind, they were fortunate just to take the game beyond 90 minutes.

Now, the Reds turn their attention to a home clash with Burnley where Ruben Amorim’s side will be under pressure to get their first win of the season.

Parker warns his team about three “exceptional” United stars

Despite the poor start to the season at United, Burnley boss Scott Parker is not pretending like the upcoming game will be easy for his side.

The former midfielder believes that there are some ‘exceptional’ players in Amorim’s squad and highlighted the three summer signings of Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

“Look, fundamentally, first and foremost, we’re playing against an exceptional, historic football club,” Parker responded to reporters this week.

“They have immense quality in their side, which we’re fully aware of. You only have to see their front line and what they’ve done over the summer.

They’ve got some exceptional players – and players that can change games at any moment really.

“The ups and downs and the bumps of football sometimes bring different results, of course. But we’re under no illusions of the task we have ahead of us at the weekend.”

Cunha and Mbeumo set for first United test

Cunha and Mbeumo are both heading into this clash as potential starters and it does seem like the first test for them both as United players.

Both of the summer signings missed penalties at Grimsby and witnessed their first crisis game at the club. Mbeumo was hounded by the League Two club’s supporters after full-time as they invaded the pitch.

But the reason United wanted to sign them was due to their familiarity to the Premier League and their ability to show their quality despite the difficulties you face in England’s top flight.

United is a different beast, of course, and they will both be hoping to show how they can bounce back from difficult moments, as that is what makes a United player successful or not.
