Manchester United target Bryan Mbeumo has revealed one ‘really important’ secret to his success at Brentford after scoring 20 goals in the Premier League last season.
There is a clear desire to improve the attack at Manchester United this summer after underperforming so poorly last term.
Matheus Cunha has been signed and will provide an upgrade on the left side of Ruben Amorim’s attack. He scored 15 goals for Wolves last term.
The Reds are also attempting to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and are currently locked in negotiations with the London-based side, and an eventual agreement seems very likely.
Mbeumo had his best season in the Premier League last term, scoring 20 goals and registering an additional eight assists.
Mbeumo reveals important secret to Brentford success
Despite his high goal tally, Mbeumo only scored more than once in a single game on four occasions across last season. Instead, he scored in 16 games rather than those numbers being inflated by specific matches.
The Brentford star’s longest goal drought came between November and December, where he failed to score in five games. The Bees only lost one of those games and he registered an assist to help secure a 3-2 win over Bournemouth.
Other than that period, Mbeumo never went more than three games without a goal and often filled those gaps with assists. He has explained himself that consistent performances have been the secret to his success.
“Consistency is really important,” Mbeumo said, speaking to …. last month, as per the Manchester Evening News. “If you want to have big ambitions you need to perform the whole season.
“I think I am still improving every day I put a foot on the pitch. I never put limits on myself.”
United players must listen carefully to Mbeumo
Consistency is something that a lot of Manchester United fans are craving within the team. One week they can look at the performance and think progress is being made, and the next game the team looks unrecognisable.
Even during last season, Amorim’s side still managed to produce some brilliant performances but they were often sandwiched in between terrible displays and results.
Bruno Fernandes, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro. Those are perhaps the only players who provided consistent performances over the course of the season.
United’s players could do with listening to Mbeumo’s comments. He did not become a top-class Premier League player by scoring hat-tricks once every 10 games, but instead by being a consistent threat week-in, week-out.
That is exactly what’s needed at Old Trafford.
