Bryan Mbeumo issues “exciting” message of hope about two Man Utd teammates, it was on display vs Brentford

Bryan Mbeumo has issued a message of hope about two of his Manchester United teammates as Rúben Amorim looks for consistency at Old Trafford.

Of all of Manchester United’s five summer signings, it has been Bryan Mbeumo who has hit the ground running the most under Rúben Amorim.

The Cameroon international signed for United for an initial £65 million fee in July, with the deal potentially rising as high as £71 million based on the 26-year-old’s performances.

Mbeumo has so far scored two goals for his new club and was awarded United’s August Player of the Month award, despite arriving late to pre-season and the head coach initially admitting that the forward was playing catch-up with his fitness.

His transfer came as part of a three-signing operation from United to rejuvenate Amorim’s front three, with striker Benjamin Šeško and former Wolves winger Matheus Cunha also joining for a total fee of a little over £180 million.

Mbeumo’s message of hope for United

Although the front three have all been at United for just over six weeks, due to fitness management and injury, Cunha, Šeško, and Mbeumo all started together for the first time during the club’s recent 3-1 defeat against Brentford.

United’s performance was not a positive one, conceding three goals to a side that had lost their two key goal scorers last summer, although it was good to see Šeško get on the scoresheet for the Reds.

Despite the underwhelming display, Mbeumo stated he sees his new forward partners as “exciting” new players to work with, and promised fans that their harmony will improve as they share more time on the pitch, such as the trio starting against Brentford.

“It’s exciting, because we get to learn to play with new players and it’s always challenging, but that’s what we like as footballers,” Mbeumo told Sky Sports.

“Of course it will improve, we haven’t played a lot together, so there are certain things that we’re going to improve, and there are different types of players, but it’s good to be with them.”

Mbeumo understands two-way relationship with Fernandes

During the Brentford fixture, United captain Bruno Fernandes missed a penalty that would have levelled the score at 2-2 with around 20 minutes left to play, which would have completely flipped the tie on its head had he scored.

Speaking further about the captain, Mbeumo explained that although it’s the Portuguese international’s job to support his teammates, it’s also important that they help Fernandes through his tough periods, too.

“It’s important to support him because this is what he’s doing every time,” the 26-year-old continued.

“I think it’s normal for us to carry him as well sometimes because he gives us a lot, and it’s good for him to have us as well.”

United have one more fixture, a home tie against Sunderland, before many of United’s players embark on their international break.

With Amorim’s current job status far from certain, he will be hoping his side can put in a positive performance before domestic football resumes in mid-October.
