Bryan Mbeumo has opened up on something he feels he is really lucky to have had happen during his opening weeks as a Manchester United player.
Bryan Mbeumo has made an immediate impact since joining Manchester United from Brentford in the summer 2025 transfer window.
Rúben Amorim secured his services for an initial £65 million, with an additional £6 million in performance-based add-ons. Mbeumo quickly impressed, delivering strong displays in pre-season and making a solid competitive debut against Arsenal.
In his first 11 appearances, he has already scored five goals and provided one assist, forming a promising partnership with Amad, Benjamin Šeško, and Bruno Fernandes.
He joined Matheus Cunha, signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £62.5 million, to bolster Amorim’s new attacking lineup.
Mbeumo thankful for summer transfer timing
Mbeumo’s move to United was not an easy one for fans. Despite the player indicating right at the beginning of the summer that he wanted to join the club, Brentford played hardball with their valuations, going as high as £75 million before the move was finally completed.
It was a drawn-out six weeks that saw United submit three official bids for the 26-year-old, and even then, they still had to adjust their final offer before it was finally accepted in mid-July.
United wanted Mbeumo in for the first day of pre-season training, but this wasn’t to be. He eventually joined just a few days before the club departed for the United States on their pre-season tour, and he still feels he was “really lucky” to be able to join the group.
“I think it was really important for me to find a good relationship with my teammates, with me joining the group before [going] to America,” he told club media.
“I was really lucky to be able to be there before, and in this camp, I think we built a good relationship. Especially [for] me, they helped me a lot to understand everyone, to know everyone, so I think we have a quite solid group.”
Mbeumo quickly becoming integral to United
It has been a long time since United’s fans have seen the club make a big-money signing like Mbeumo, and the player has made an immediate, outstanding impact. Possibly, it’s the first time United have witnessed this since signing Bruno Fernandes in January 2020.

Mbeumo has collected two of United’s three Player of the Month awards, in August and October, with Bruno Fernandes being awarded the September title.
The Cameroon international has made it clear that his love for the club runs deeper than the aura United and Old Trafford have in the football world, with both him and Cunha being childhood fans now leading the line.
While 22-year-old Šeško is seen as more of a long-term project that the club can build into a world-class striker, Mbeumo was brought in for the here and now, and he’s delivering like it.
