Bruno Fernandes spotted ‘helping Man Utd youngster adapt’ in pre-season training, he could go on tour

Bruno Fernandes was spotted helping one of Manchester United’s youngsters adapt in pre-season training this week after the squad returned to Carrington.

Manchester United players returned to Carrington on Monday as pre-season preparations began for a crucial campaign under Ruben Amorim.

After the summer break, Amorim welcomed most of his squad back to the training ground to begin their return to action and that group included new signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.

The first three days of training did not have the full squad present, as several players were given extended time off, but a larger contingent reported back on Thursday.

Bruno Fernandes was among that group to come back to training midweek after playing for Portugal last week. The club captain and Diogo Dalot were offered an extra week of compassionate leave following the passing of their friend and international teammate Diogo Jota but they both wanted to return to the club this week.

Fernandes ‘helping United youngster’ in pre-season training

United have been documenting their pre-season this week and the session which saw the likes of Fernandes and Casemiro return was no different.

Club reporter Adam Marshall was on the sidelines for the Thursday session on the grass alongside MYTV’s cameras and managed to note some interesting things from the session.

Marshall detailed how Fernandes looked to be helping Shea Lacey adapt in the session and putting him at ease before a demanding drill.

Lacey, 18, is one of the most exciting talents in the Academy, and Marshall also went onto write that “Lacey was trusted with possession in tight spaces” during training.

Bendito Mantato was another youngster praised during the session as Amorim gets to have a closer look at his options within the Academy setback.

Lacey could go on United tour

This will be the first pre-season tour in a while where the entire squad will be present due to the lack of any international tournaments.

That also means that there will likely be fewer spaces for youngsters on the plane to the United States but Lacey is one talent who should be heading on that tour.

After showing positive signs in limited minutes during the post-season tour of Asia, Lacey has showcased that he is prepared for the step up technically.

Amorim should take the time to assess the 18-year-old physically, as that is where his problems have come in the last couple of years.

But if Lacey is able to impress on the tour, he could be one to take a significant step towards a potential first-team debut and involvement next season.
