Bruno Fernandes sends clear message to Manchester United fans after Erik ten Hag sacking

Bruno Fernandes has sent a clear message to Manchester United fans after manager Erik ten Hag was sacked from his position.

Manchester United confirmed the decision to sack Erik ten Hag on Monday morning following a 2-1 defeat to West Ham on the weekend.

The club currently sit 14th in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League table. Ruud van Nistelrooy will take over on an interim basis.

United have claimed that they are searching for a new permanent boss, with managers like Xavi Hernandez and Ruben Amorim linked to the job.

Ten Hag was made aware of the decision on Monday morning before the initial announcement. His contract was valid until June 2026 after an extension was activated in the summer.

Bruno Fernandes has asked United fans to remember the good times under Ten Hag despite the bitter ending to his time at Old Trafford.

The club captain was the first player to react to the news that the Dutch manager would be leaving the club and displayed his appreciation to the man who made him club captain at Old Trafford.

“Thanks for everything boss,” wrote Fernandes. “I appreciate the trust and the moments we share together, I wish you all the best in the future.”

Addressing the supporters, Fernandes added: “Even knowing the last period isn’t been great from all of us I hope you fans can keep with you the good things the manager [h]as done for our club!”

Ten Hag won the Carabao Cup in his first season at the club and finished third in the Premier League.

While last season’s league finish dropped to a dreadful eighth-place, the Reds managed to win the FA Cup in dramatic style against Manchester City.

Fans will have mixed feelings about Ten Hag’s tenure at the club but not many will deny that it was the right time for him to leave.
