Bruno Fernandes praises transfer decision as Man United’s controversial move confirmed
Bruno Fernandes has praised Manchester United’s transfer move as a controversial decision has been confirmed.
United announced this week that goalkeeper Tom Heaton will be staying at the club after signing a one-year extension.
Heaton’s contract ran out on Monday. However, the experienced shot-stopper will now remain at the club, which provides young prospects such as Elyh Harrison the chance to progress in the youth team or out on loan.
Bruno Fernandes took to Instagram to react to the decision, writing: “Well deserved big man.”
The skipper hailed the veteran goalkeepers’ influence after he was called into the England squad as a training goalkeeper for Euro 2024. Great leaders are always welcome in any place. Congratulations, big man,” he said.
Heaton returned to Old Trafford three years ago, and while he has only made three appearances since then, he has offered value behind the scenes.
Meanwhile, INEOS have been continuing to make changes behind the scenes at Old Trafford and have made one of their most controversial decisions yet.
According to MailSport, the club are set to make almost a quarter of its workforce redundant following an internal review of operations.
It was stated that a series of meetings took place on Wednesday morning, during which staff were given the bombshell news that up to 250 of the club’s 1,100 employees would be losing their jobs.
The Times added that it was Jean-Claude Blanc leading these meetings and that the mood was “sombre” among the workforce.
