Mason Mount has suffered many injury problems since joining Manchester United, and Bruno Fernandes’ reaction to his latest setback says it all about the club captain.

In July 2023, Manchester United announced they had reached an agreement with Premier League rivals Chelsea to sign English midfielder Mason Mount.

The transfer, sanctioned by then-manager Erik ten Hag, saw Mount join the Old Trafford club for an initial fee of £55 million, with potential add-ons increasing the total to £60 million if achieved.

Eighteen months on, Mount has featured in just 32 matches for United, scoring one goal and providing one assist during that period.

Of the 78 games the club have played since his arrival, the 25-year-old has missed a significant portion due to injury. Despite Rúben Amorim’s positive remarks about him, Mount has now suffered yet another setback.

Fernandes’ reaction to Mount’s latest setback

After it was confirmed that Mount would be out for “several weeks” following his injury against City, Mount posted an emotional message on his Instagram page, saying: “Words can’t portray how devastated I’m feeling right now, you could probably see the look on my face when it happened. I knew what it meant.

“United fans, you may not know me too well yet, but one thing I can guarantee, I will never give up or lose faith.

“I’ve said this before, but I will continue to give everything, get through this tough period and won’t stop until that’s achieved.”

In reaction to the post, club captain Bruno Fernandes sent Mount an 18-word message of support for his fellow midfielder.

“Always with you,” the captain started, accompanied with a heart emoji.

“We will be by your side in every moment We fall together we rise together!”

Fernandes’ message to Mount is a class act from the club captain

Fernandes has been United’s best captain in the last decade. On and off the field, he has been nothing short of a class act, and his message to Mount is yet another example of this.

The 30-year-old is so supportive of the players he has under his influence at Old Trafford, and continues to cheerlead those having tough periods at United, and is quick to promote others who are playing well.

He is also an essential player on the pitch, often leading the charge when United need a goal and rarely faltering in the face of adversicty.

Fernandes had a poor start to the campaign during the opening months of this season, and once Ten Hag was sacked as manager, he was quick to take the blame for his poor performances, showing that he knows where his responsibilities lie.
