Bruno Fernandes has let his feelings known on one Manchester United teammate amid January transfer speculation.

Manchester United are looking likely to be active in the January transfer window, with sales needed in order to make signings for Ruben Amorim’s side.

After 12 games under the new boss, it is already clear that the club need to sign at least one wingback, with the current options not completely comfortable in those positions.

Nuno Mendes has been reported as one option for that role but the PSG full-back would cost a considerable amount due to the French club’s desire to keep him.

Zirkzee receiving transfer interest

There are several players United could let go this month to generate cash, with Joshua Zirkzee rumoured to be one of those after an underwhelming start to life at Old Trafford.

The 23-year-old striker was booed at the Theatre of Dreams last week after being substituted in the first-half against Newcastle United, and while the away fans at Liverpool attempted to lift his spirits, it is fair to say that things haven’t gone well for him so far.

Interest in Zirkzee this month is aplenty, with Italian and Premier League clubs interested in his services but the forward wants to stay at United.

That is according to various reports, including one from David Ornstein, who claims that the Dutchman has ‘no plans’ to leave the club this month.

Fernandes makes Zirkzee feelings known

Bruno Fernandes made his feeling clear on his Dutch teammate on the weekend, where he slammed the boos he received during the Newcastle came.

But the club captain also assured that Zirkzee needs time to adapt to show his quality and that he believes in him to do it.

“I was in the stands [against Newcastle] and have never seen something like this,” Fernandes told TalkSPORT. “And it really frustrates and annoys me because he is a player who always gives his all.

“As a player coming into the team from a different league, he needs time to adapt but he has huge qualities.

“He hasn’t shown all the quality but it can’t be, from the first game of the season, everyone was hyping him as one of the best strikers and now everyone doesn’t believe in him anymore.

“We do believe in him inside the dressing room.”
