Bruno Fernandes was described as “remarkable” during Manchester United’s dramatic 3-2 win over Ipswich Town on Wednesday evening.

Manchester United triumphed 3-2 over Ipswich Town in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford, despite being reduced to 10 men.

Ruben Amorim’s side fell behind early on after a costly mix-up between André Onana and Patrick Dorgu gifted Ipswich a goal.

Bruno Fernandes then sparked United’s comeback with two precise set-pieces—one deflecting off Sam Morsy for an own goal, and the other fired home by Matthijs de Ligt.

However, moments later, Dorgu’s reckless challenge on Omari Hutchinson led VAR to intervene, prompting referee Darren England to review the incident. A red card was inevitable, leaving United a man down.

Just before half-time, Ipswich capitalised and found an equaliser, but early in the second half, Harry Maguire rose highest to head in the winning goal, securing all three points for United.

Fernandes described as “remarkable” after Ipswich moment

Fernandes was at the centre of everything for United once again, with the club captain playing a role in all three goals for the hosts.

But the most impressive aspect of the Portuguese midfielder’s game was his physical levels. He never stops running and that was the same on Wednesday night.

One moment which went under the radar during the game was when Fernandes made a lung-busting run down the right wing mid-way through the second half.

The 30-year-old attempted an outside-the-foot cross to Noussair Mazraoui but the ball was intercepted and Ipswich tried to counter.

Fernandes was pictured with one knee on the turf, looking physically drained, but he then lifted himself up and ran back into position, before continuing to run constantly until the final whistle.

The Athletic journalist Adam Crafton wrote on X: “The fitness and stamina of Bruno Fernandes is remarkable.”

Amorim praises Fernandes’ character

Amorim was also full of praise for his captain after the game, highlighting his character as a standout attribute.

“It’s a special player… always available, with that character that sometimes gives him problems, but I really like the characterm,” Amorim told club media.

He’s a very important player for us. When it is difficult, he is always there and that is really important for us.”

Fernandes now has 10 goals and 13 assists for United so far this season in 39 appearances.
