Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler warns players about five Manchester United stars
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has warned his players about five Manchester United stars ahead of their Premier League clash this weekend.
The Reds won their opening Premier League fixture 1-0 against Fulham as Joshua Zirkzee’s debut goal provided the difference on the night.
Meanwhile, Hurzeler also got off to a great start, with The Seagulls winning 3-0 win over Everton on Saturday afternoon at Goodison Park.
The upcoming clash between these two sides at the Amex Stadium will provide a stern test for Erik ten Hag and his side, but the hosts will not take the fixture lightly either.
Despite Brighton having won four of their last five Premier League encounters against United, Hurzeler laughed off the assumption that his team were favourites going into the tie.
Instead, the 31-year-old manager has warned his players about the dangers that Ten Hag’s side bring, particularly in the attacking phases of the game. He name-dropped five danger men who can make an impact.
“And so the strengths from this team is they have like an individual quality on the pitch where you never can lose your attention on the game,” Hurzeler told reporters on Thursday, as per BeanymanSports.
“Because they can decide a game in one situation, even if they’re not really in the game.
“They have the quality of [Bruno] Fernandes with [Marcus] Rashford, [Amad] Diallo, [Alejandro] Garnacho, [Mason] Mount – there’s one situation, they can kill the game.”
Garnacho, in particular, has started the season well, with two goal contributions in two appearances from the bench. Fernandes also looks sharp at the beginning of the campaign despite having missed two huge chances against Fulham.
Speaking on how his players need to deal with United’s attacking threat, Hurzeler explained that they will not be able to switch off at all throughout the game.
“They have to pay attention, like, really… 90 minutes, you have to be focused all the time on the game, especially on transition moments,” he added.
“When we are in possession [we need to make sure that] we have a good positioning, a good distance to each other in the case for the stopping their transition moments, and I think this will be key.
The game will kick off at 12:30 BST on Saturday afternoon, with the full coverage details here.
