Arne Slot made some bizarre comments about Manchester United last weekend when Ruben Amorim’s side beat Liverpool at Anfield.
Manchester United managed to build on their impressive win over Liverpool by beating Brighton 4-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.
The Reds have now won four of their last five Premier League games; form that has moved them into fourth in the table.
Meanwhile, rivals Liverpool are experiencing a difficult moment and their defeat against United has been followed by another loss away at Brentford.
The Bees even mocked Liverpool boss Arne Slot after the game for bizarre comments he made last weekend against United.
Brentford mock Slot as bizarre United comment backfires
Slot was angry at United for playing long passes at Anfield last week but that was not the strangest comment from the Dutch manager.
Before the game, when it was confirmed that United had benched Benjamin Šeško and were using Matheus Cunha upfront, the Liverpool boss was annoyed that his opponent were changing their team.
“We’ve seen Šeško play the last three, four, five or six times, but they go to Liverpool they change the line-up. That’s not the first where we’ve faced a team and they’ve done that,” he said.
Many fans mocked Slot for these comments afterwards, and now Brentford have followed suit on social media following their own victory against the Merseyside outfit.
Shortly after full-time, Brentford’s X account posted: “Must have been that unchanged team,” with a smirking face emoji.
Meanwhile, Šeško returned to the lineup for United in their clash with Brighton and assisted Bryan Mbeumo’s first goal. The Slovenian has two goals and an assist in his last three starts.
United scrutiny is different
Slot appears to be making a fool of himself every time he speaks to the media right now. Ahead of the Brentford game, he spoke constantly about long throw-ins and how they are difficult to deal with – Liverpool then conceded to one four minutes into the game.
The first sign of difficulty and scrutiny has been difficult for him to deal with and it makes you think about how much easier the United job would be if there wasn’t as much attention and scrutiny.

Everything about United brings more attention, even compared to Liverpool, who are the second biggest club in the country. Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak might be getting mocked by fans on social media, but imagine what the likes of Sky Sports would be coming out with if they played at Old Trafford.
United are treated differently, but all Amorim and his squad can do is focus on improving week-on-week. It seems like they are starting to do that, even if they do kick the ball long sometimes.
