Benjamin Šeško’s ex-coach has explained that just a few games at Manchester will prove why the Slovenian is among the best strikers in the world.
Manchester United are closing in on the signing of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško, with Rúben Amorim pushing to bring in a new centre-forward.
United have submitted an offer worth £65 million, plus a further £9 million in add-ons, as they move to land their top striker target this summer.
Newcastle were also in the running, but once United struck an agreement on personal terms with the 22-year-old Slovenian, his preferred destination became clear.
Talks between United and Leipzig are ongoing, with a final deal expected to be reached in the coming hours or days.
Šeško has unlimited potential
With Šeško coming in at 22 years old, some are worried that he may be too raw to handle the pressure of leading the line for United – but his former coach, Mirsad Mujakic, who coached Šeško in NK Krsko’s U15s, believes his “unlimited” potential will shine through.
His potential is unlimited,” Mujakic told MailSport. “I believe he can be even better than (Erling) Haaland because he is a such a hard worker. He will do everything and more to succeed.
“That’s why I think he will quickly show in England why he is among the best strikers in the world.
“We all understand what English league means across the world, that it is the best league in the world and that the smallest details make all the difference,’ he said.
“That’s why I think he’s the right person for the Premier League with his work ethic and his lifestyle. Anyone who doubts his quality will change their mind after just a few games.”
Šeško has a better environment to succeed than others
Much of the concern surrounding Šeško’s move to United stems from the struggles of Rasmus Højlund, who has scored 26 goals in 95 appearances for the Reds since joining for a similar fee in 2023.
However, what must be taken into account is that the environment Šeško will be entering compared to Højlund is very different both on and off the field.
While Højlund joined in the aftermath of Erik ten Hag’s spat with Cristiano Ronaldo that saw the legend leave the club and reportedly left the dressing room with mixed feelings about the whole ordeal, Šeško is joining a squad with a carefully curated and positive environment, which has been on display in a recent video involving new signing, 18-year-old Diego Leon, trying to eat Sushi.
On the pitch, Šeško is also joining with a much better cushion. He will be fighting for the striker spot with Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, and all three players have a fantastic creative base around them.

Amad, Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, all of whom are in the side to supply the striker, have a fantastic record of creating chances, while also are able to score goals themselves.
While Højlund’s horrors last season were in part down to the overwhelming burden he carried as the sole striker in the squad, Šeško is joining a much-improved environment that will allow the striker to thrive with less pressure on his shoulders.
