Benjamin Šeško possible Manchester United wages with club ‘confident’ of full agreement

Benjamin Šeško would have to fit into Manchester United’s new wage structure if he is to accept a move to Rúben Amorim’s squad this summer.

Manchester United have submitted their first formal offer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško as Rúben Amorim hunts for a new centre-forward.

Amorim’s side tabled an official bid to the Bundesliga side of around £65 million plus a further £9 million in add-ons, with Šeško their first-choice striker target this summer.

However, Premier League rivals Newcastle have also been hot on the chase for the 22-year-old Slovenian international, having submitted a £78 million offer for the player on Monday evening.

According to various reports, United and Newcastle both have preliminary personal term agreement in place with the player, but neither has struck an agreement with Newcastle.

United confident of securing Šeško signing

Amid the club’s new bid for Šeško, the Old Trafford club are reportedly confident they can strike a final agreement.

According to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, United believe that Šeško wants to join Amorim’s side over Newcastle. Still, both clubs are confident they will be able to finalise an agreement with Leipzig in the coming hours.

Šeško has agreed on the final terms with both United and their Northern counterparts, meaning the final decision will now come down to who can reach an agreement with Leipzig first. If both bids are accepted, it will then be up to Šeško to choose.

According to Jacobs, Šeško has already been in contact with some of United’s players, who believe he would be a perfect fit at Old Trafford.

How much could Šeško earn at United

A key part of United’s summer transfer plan has been addressing their wage bill, with United looking to offload many of their high-earning players, such as Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo are both on a relatively modest £150,000 a week plus bonuses, which is expected to rise to around £200,000 a week if they qualify for the Champions League.

Šeško is currently earning around £93,000 a week in Germany, according to Capology. Considering Cunha was earning £90,000 a week at Wolverhampton Wanderers before his move, Šeško could see a similar salary to his at Old Trafford.

Cunha is a more important player for United currently, and his pedigree of Premier League experience puts him above Šeško initially, so the latter’s wages could sit at around £130,000-140,000 a week, plus bonuses.
