Benjamin Šeško issues fitness update as he claims Man Utd know Aston Villa’s ‘weak spots’

Benjamin Šeško has issued the latest on his fitness as Manchester United prepare to face Aston Villa in a crunch Premier League tie.

Manchester United will aim to build on their encouraging away form when they make the trip to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon, in a fixture that could have a major say in the Premier League title race.

Rúben Amorim’s side have found life difficult at Old Trafford in recent weeks, regularly letting winning positions slip, most recently allowing Bournemouth back into the game three times during Monday night’s dramatic 4-4 draw. Their displays on the road, however, have been noticeably more consistent.

The Reds are unbeaten away from home since late September, recording impressive victories over Liverpool and Crystal Palace, while also drawing with Nottingham Forest and Tottenham.

A visit to Villa Park now represents their stiffest challenge to date. Unai Emery’s men have won nine straight Premier League matches and sit just three points behind leaders Arsenal, with Villa likely to view an inconsistent United as another opportunity to capitalise on home soil.

Šeško is happy to be back

After around six weeks out with a knee injury, United striker Benjamin Šeško, who signed from RB Leipzig in the summer, was able to return and played just over 20 minutes on Monday evening.

With United now missing Amad and Bryan Mbeumo due to the Africa Cup of Nations, Šeško’s return has come at a vital time, and speaking to club media, he’s confirmed that he’s getting ‘better every day’ amid United’s need for a new goal source.

“I was really happy when I came back, that I could be back with the team,” the forward told us earlier this week.

“I can enjoy, have a great time and try and get better every day. It’s obviously a dream to do every single training out there and score some goals.”

Amorim working on Villa’s weak spots

Speaking further, the player added that the squad have been becoming familiar with Villa’s weak spots ahead of the Sunday afternoon clash.

“We know this is a great team, we are preparing with full power that we can use. Try to use it in certain situations, on the weak spots,” he added when assessing United’s upcoming opponents.

“I think the guys are ready, we are looking forward to Sunday, trying to give our best and win the game.

“[The message from Ruben has been] obviously to try and finish attacks because we had plenty of shots [against Bournemouth], try to be more clinical and in the defence just to have more focus.

“As he says always, when we have a focus, it’s hard to beat us. We showed [that] many times, that’s the main focus for this weekend, to try and protect the net as long as possible.”
