Manchester United have reportedly made their decision on the immediate future of Portuguese boss Ruben Amorim following a loss against Everton.
It has been something of a rollercoaster ride so far this season. After losing to Arsenal on opening day, drawing to Fulham and losing to Grimsby, things started to look up for Macnhester United.
After wins against Chelsea and Burnley, and losses to Manchester City and Brentford, Ruben Amorim’s side went on a five-game unbeaten run, including an infamous win at Anfield.
However, his side has been unable to find a win in their last three games.
With two draws to Nottingham Forest and Spurs, despite taking the lead in both games, and a horrific loss at home to a 10-man Everton, United missed out on a chance to reach the top four and now find themselves in tenth
United remain firm on Amorim, but
According to reports from Ben Jacobs relayed by The United Stand, the 40-year-old United boss will be given the whole season at United, but only provided as he gets through the festive period with a good run of form.
Although United want Amorim’s tenure at United to be a success at Old Trafford, this hints that, should the club head into a bad patch of form during December, he could be facing an axe.
Manchester United have seemingly decided to stick by Portuguese boss Ruben Amorim, rather than looking for his replacement, despite some highly inconsistent form this season, both home and away.
He may not necessarily be safe from the sack, but for this season, as long as his so-called ‘storm’ does not return, he will remain at the helm for the Red Devils.
Although United were unable to capitalise on the chance to move up into the top four of the Premier League, they are still only three points off Aston Villa, who took the chance and currently sit fourth.
Furthermore, after their loss at St James’ Park to Newcastle, rivals Manchester City are only four points away in third, meaning United are still in and around the top despite sitting mid-table.
Is this the correct decision?
Whether Amorim can bring Man United back to where the once were is really up for debate, as we have seen both positive and negative signs from him and his team.
Something certain is that players clearly back and trust him, as after almost every game this season, win or loss, the players have praised their manager for his work with them.
He has successfully restored a positive environment around the club, and the results can be seen on the pitch with players such as Amad and Bryan Mbeumo building a good relationship off the pitch, which has started to translate on the pitch down United’s right side.

The hierarchy will not be set on the boss being the right man as of yet, as his side has still shown some worrying signs this season, a somewhat leaky defence, and a worry in attack with Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko only having three goals between them so far.
There is still a lot of work to do for Ruben Amorim, but for now he has just about done enough to avoid biting the bullet at this stage of the season.
