Ben Foster has been raving about one Manchester United star who Rúben Amorim may be finally about to unleash at Old Trafford.
Fresh off the dominant 4-1 victory against Wolves on Monday night, much-needed positivity has returned to the club.
Manchester United have now lost only once in their last nine matches, with the defeat coming to Everton. Consistency of results that until now was sorely lacking under Ruben Amorim.
A big reason for this has been the success of the attacking summer signings, which have elevated the Red Devils’ performances this year.
While Benjamin Šeško has been out injured of late, and Matheus Cunha has not hit the ground running goals-wise, they have been pivotal to the way Amorim has set up. Šeško offers a direct outlet up front and is excellent at link-up play. The Brazilian flair and drive of Cunha is there for all to see as he often helps drive United up the pitch.
Then there is United’s top scorer this season, Bryan Mbeumo, who has carried much of the club’s goal-scoring burden and was again on the scoresheet against Wolves.
Cunha is ‘getting even better’, says Foster
Despite not putting up the same number of goal contributions as last season at Wolves, Cunha has easily become a fan favourite this season.
The new number 10 has won fans over not just for his flair and trickery, which has been a breath of fresh air, but his determination to leave everything out on the pitch and fight for the badge.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has given his thoughts on the Brazilian on his show, The Fozcast, explaining he feels the 26-year-old is going to get better and better under Amorim, finally unleashing himself at Old Trafford.
“Cunha is a player, by the way,” he started. “I went to West Ham the other night. Honestly, he is unreal, by the way. He just looks like he’s getting even better.”
With those quotes coming after the draw against West Ham, where United were heavily criticised, it is a testament to his ability.
Winter period will be massive for Cunha
The upcoming festive period will be a massive moment for Cunha to take that next step, from a great player performing well with limited goal contributions to the club’s attacking leader.
As of now, Bryan Mbeumo is that attacking leader, but with AFCON approaching, both the Cameroonian and Amad are set to leave to take part. That would leave Cunha, Sesko, Joshua Zirkzee, Mason Mount and the young Shea Lacey as the remaining forwards at the club.

The games will be coming thick and fast, and with few options to play with, Cunha may have to play almost all of them and shoulder the burden while Mbeumo and Amad are away.
The Brazilian is the most experienced out of the remaining forwards and is already an established star player in the Premier League thanks to previous performances for Wolves. Now is the time for him to reach that next level.
