Ben Foster claims Manchester United have two “world-beaters”, injuries will prove to be damaging

Ben Foster has spoken out about two Manchester United “world-beaters” who are crucial to the squad as injuries prove to be harmful to the team.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper has spoken out on two players at Old Trafford who he views to be vital factors of Ruben Amorim’s side.

United fell short in their most recent fixture as they lost 2-1 to Aston Villa away from home with two sublime pieces of solo work from Morgan Rogers putting Matheus Cunha’s equaliser to bed.

United are currently sat on 26 points in seventh place in the Premier League as they look to hunt down Champions League football for the first time since Erik ten Hag’s time at the wheel.

United invested heavily in their offensive line after last season saw a lack of attacking output from United’s forwards. The arrivals of Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko brought a new attacking threat as Antony, Jadon Sancho and Rasmus Hojlund all departed.

Foster’s awe of two particular players proves how troublesome the future could be for Amorim’s side as injuries plague the squad.

Foster in awe of Fernandes and Cunha

Summer signing, Cunha and captain Bruno Fernandes have caught the eye of Foster as he outlined the impact that they have on United’s performances.

Speaking on the Fozcast podcast, foster stated, “The thing is, they have got some absolute world-beaters.”

“He’s (Cunha) a specimen, isn’t he? It looks like he’s taller than what he was at Wolves, by the way. He’s got it all. It looks like he’s taller.”

“And then when you’re mixing with a few others, like Bruno, for example, like you’ve got world-beaters and you’ve got winners as well.”

“And I think they’re the ones that are getting them through.”

This comes at a crucial time of the season for United as Amad, Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui are all away from the squad at the African Cup of Nations and there are question marks over the quality of Joshua Zirkzee and Sesko.

Fernandes’ injury leaves United desperate

As United’s standout player this season tallying a total of five goals and seven assists, Fernandes came off at Villa Park with what appeared to be a hamstring injury at half-time. This left a midfield duo of Manuel Ugarte and Lisandro Martinez as Casemiro faced suspension and Kobbie Mainoo suffered an injury.

Fernandes has been United’s undeniable creative outlet this season in the Premier League and with his injury looking to have him sidelined for a substantial number of games, United may be stranded without him, relying primarily on the creative flair of Cunha.

Bruno’s deeper role in Amorims’s 3-4-2-1 formation puts a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and his absence presents a difficult conundrum for Amorim.

United will face Newcastle in their next game on Boxing Day with fans doubtful of who will provide the creative flair in what will undoubtably be a tough fixture at Old Trafford.
