Ben Foster admires ‘unreal skill’ of one Man Utd player he ‘never thought’ they could pull off

Following Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at the London Stadium on Tuesday night, the former United keeper provided strong praise for one of the Reds strongest performers over the past month.

After what can only be described as a dream start to life as Manchester United manager, Michael Carrick suffered his first points dropped since returning as interim head coach on Tuesday against West Ham United.

After what was a very cagey first half, having very little to shout about, other than another clever routine which saw Luke Shaw’s effort cleared off the line by former United right back Arron Wan-Bissaka, United found themselves one-nil down five minutes after the restart.

With roughly twenty minutes of the second half remaining, it looked as though United had fought themselves back into the game, following a sublime cross from Kobbie Mainoo that was then headed home by Casemiro, but was ultimately ruled out being given as offside by the finest of margins.

It looked as if the Reds were staring down the barrel of their first Premier League defeat since Aston Villa away in December, until Benjamin Šeško came to the rescue in the ninety-sixth minute with a sublime finish into the top corner, which was then hailed by Ben Foster in his praise of the Slovenian’s performance.

Foster praises of Šeško

When speaking on his own podcast, the Fozcast, the former United man wasted no time in praising the Slovenian’s strike, saying:

“Man United, one last-minute goal, by the way, what a finish by Sesko,”

“Unreal. I’ve never thought he had that in the locker, because it’s the only place it can go.”

“It’s the toppest of top corners, right? There’s an angle from behind where it goes, and I mean, like the toppest of top corners, and I still had to watch it back a couple of times to go, how has he struck that by the way”

Foster further went on to break down the strike in deeper detail, fully aprciating the quality of the strike:

“Did he bounce first? But he didn’t, he loosens his foot.”

“He’s not trying to do it hard; he’s trying to take pace off the ball, he’s just trying to guide it.”

“But from that angle he’s running at, the angle that the ball’s come at, he’s got to loosen his ankle so much and just softly hit it, and oh my God, it was beautiful.”

Has Šeško arrived?

Over the previous month, its began to feel like Benjiman Šeško may be beginning to properly find his footing in a Man United shirt, which is further reflected in his recent goal record, being the Premier League’s top 3 goalscorers for 2026 so far.

Other than an early patch of goals, it has been a slow burner for Šeško’s season so far, having faced criticism from in and around the fanbase, but it appears he may be starting to catch fire at just the right time.

Having scored 5 from his last 6 appearances, winning vital points with a brace against Burnley and a late winner at home to Fulham, the big Slovenian was able to do it again spectacularly to rescue a point for United in the West End.

If his recent form is anything to go by, United fans may be able to get excited about the prospect of not only a strong end to the season, but also the potential of Šeško finally announcing himself to the League.
