“Before the final…” – Rúben Amorim issues four Manchester United injury updates as Diogo Dalot latest emerges

Rúben Amorim has issued injury updates on four of his players following Manchester United’s thumping 4-1 Europa League win over Athletic Club.

Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United marched into the Europa League final in emphatic fashion, smashing Athletic Club 4-1 at Old Trafford to complete a stunning 7-1 aggregate victory.

Despite carrying a 3-0 lead from the first leg, United were caught cold early on as Mikel Jauregizar fired in a beauty to give the visitors hope. Alejandro Garnacho nearly hit back before half-time but couldn’t find the target, and United went in at the break trailing on the night.

But the second half was a different story. Amorim rolled the dice with a triple change, bringing on Amad, Luke Shaw, and Mason Mount—and it paid off brilliantly. Mount curled in a gorgeous equaliser before Casemiro headed United in front from a Bruno Fernandes delivery. The crowd roared as Rasmus Højlund slotted in a third to kill the tie.

Then came the icing on the cake: Mount, from near halfway, unleashed a jaw-dropping strike to grab his second and send Old Trafford wild. United now head to the final brimming with confidence, where they’ll face Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Amorim issues four-man injury update

United’s three substitutes who changed the game, Shaw, Mount, and Amad, are all those who have recently returned from injury, which is no doubt a significant boost for Amorim.

Speaking after the fixture, Amorim issued updates on his four players, admitting that it is going to be hard to have his full squad available for the final.

“It is going to be hard. Players like Mason Mount we have to be careful, Amad is still getting his momentum,” Amorim explained. “So, some players are not capable to do that.

“We rest Nous [Mazraoui], but you can feel Mazraoui doesn’t have the energy in this moment, so we tried to help him in that department.

“[Diogo] Dalot is doing everything to recover. I think they will push now to be available. Some players cannot play 90 minutes and we have to protect them, so. we don’t get injuries before the final.”

What are United’s other injury concerns?

Aside from Dalot, there are are a few others who remain unavailable, although it’s expected that three will likely return in time for the final.

Matthijs de Ligt suffered an injury last week, but Amorim confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that it is not a serious issue and he may be back next week.

Meanwhile, both Ayden Heaven and Toby Collyer have been spotted in individual training in the last few weeks and may be able to return to the squad ahead of the final.

However, Joshua Zirkzee and Lisandro Martínez remain sidelined and will not be available again this season. Both players were spotted at Old Trafford to cheer on the squad on Thursday evening.
