Manchester United are keeping their eye out on the summer market for fresh attacking talent this summer as Rúben Amorim engineers a major squad upheaval.
Manchester United are planning a major overhaul of their attack this summer, following a disappointing 2024/25 season that ended with a 15th-place finish in the Premier League and persistent goal-scoring issues.
Bruno Fernandes finished as the top scorer with 19 goals, while Alejandro Garnacho and Amad both registered 11. Rasmus Højlund added 10, but no other player reached double figures in any competition.
The club have already wrapped up the £62.5 million signing of Matheus Cunha and are making progress in their pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
A fee has been agreed in principle, with discussions now focused on the structure of add-ons. The Cameroon international is expected to undergo a medical next week, while United continue to scour the market for further opportunities.
Amorim is a fan of “unstoppable” Rogers
Last season saw many bright young players break out across the Premier League, with one of the standout stars being Aston Villa winger Morgan Rogers.
The ex-Manchester City Academy star netted a stunning 14 goals and 15 assists across all competitions, with his “unstoppable” ball-carrying and eye for goal being standout qualities under Unai Emery.
According to reports from earlier in the summer, Amorim himself sees the £70 million-rated England international as a player who would add value to his squad, with Rogers also forming a close partnership with Marcus Rashford during the latter’s six-month loan in Birmingham.
With Garnacho set to leave Old Trafford this summer, Rogers would undoubtedly be an upgrade on the Argentina international, with Amorim looking for more consistency from his forward players.
However, Chelsea and his former club City have also been credited with significant interest in the player ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Romano explains that Rogers could become available
Amid all the speculation, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has warned that fans should “be ready” for a fight to sign Rogers, as it is not out of the realm of possibility that he may leave Birmingham this summer amid their current financial issues.
“Keep an eye also on the situation of Morgan Rogers,” Romano explained on his YouTube channel.
“Aston Villa would love to keep the player at the club because he’s considered as a crucial player for Unai Emery who wants the player to stay at Aston Villa, but many top clubs keep following the situation of Morgan Rogers.
“In case Aston Villa could decide to open the doors to an exit, be ready because many top clubs are following the player. So Morgan Rogers has many suitors this summer.
“Villa insists they don’t want to sell him, but let’s see what’s gonna happen in the next days and weeks of the summer transfer window because Morgan Rogers is attracting a lot of interest.”
