Bayern Munich chief releases statement following Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui’s Manchester United transfers
Bayern Munich chief Max Eberl has released a statement as Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui both sign for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag.
Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have completed their moves from Bayern Munich to Manchester United. De Ligt has signed a five-year contract with the club, while Mazraoui put pen to paper on a four-year deal. Both contracts have an option to extend for a further season.
The Dutch centre-back and Moroccan right-back both reunite with Erik ten Hag, their former coach at Ajax, where De Ligt and Mazraoui both emerged from the academy to become key first-team players.

United have secured De Ligt and Marzaoui at a time when defensive upgrades are a priority. De Ligt will vie for a place in the starting lineup alongside Lisandro Martínez, Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans, and possibly Victor Lindelöf, whose future with the club remains in doubt.
Mazraoui will compete with Diogo Dalot at right-back while also providing cover at left-back.
They are both expected to be available for Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Fulham at Old Trafford later this week.
Bayern Munich’s director of sport, Max Eberl, wished both players the best of luck in the future in a full statement.
“FC Bayern thanks Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui for the successful time we had together,” Eberl said.
“Matthijs is a player who always gives everything and leaves his heart on the pitch – his decisive tackle in the Champions League knockout match against Paris St. Germain will remain unforgettable for the fans.
“Similarly, Noussair has consistently delivered reliable performances over the past two years. We wish both of them all the best for their future at Manchester United in the Premier League.”
