Former Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has named two players that the club failed to help reach their full potential.

Like Schweinsteiger, Pogba arrived at Old Trafford as a World Cup winner, with neither of the midfielders having widely successful spells at the Manchester club.

Discussing Pogba on the Overlap with former United captain Gary Neville, Schweinsteiger claimed that despite his natural ability, United failed to get the best out of his potential.

“I call him [Pogba] one of the best midfield players I played with,” Remarked Schweinsteiger. “I think you could see it definitely when he was playing in the French team – you could see the potential he had with the right team around him.”

Pogba would only play alongside Schweinsteiger on one occasion, in a Europa League tie against French side Saint-Étienne. Additionally, they would face off against each other on five more occasions for club and country.

With regard to the current United squad, Schweinsteiger admitted that he sees a similar occurrence happening with Marcus Rashford.

Commenting on the Red Devils #10, the World Cup-winning midfielder explained that he wants to see Rashford in a stronger outfit, whether that be at Old Trafford or elsewhere.

“I would love to see him in a better team, where he gets the balls in the right moment.” stated Schweinsteiger.

Schweinsteiger would play six matches with Rashford during his time at the club, remaining unbeaten, including a 1-0 victory over Manchester City.

Since their time as teammates, Rashford has continued to be a staple of the Red Devils’ team, making 398 appearances for the Premier League side to date.

Scoring 131 goals and picking up 64 assists, Rashford has been United’s top goal scorer on one occasion.
