Bastian Schweinsteiger highlights the three traits that make Casemiro one of the best
As a World Cup-winning trophy-laden once-in-a-generation midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger knows what it requires to be one of the world’s best.
After playing for Bayern Munich as either a youth player or a fully-fledged international, Schweinsteiger transferred from Germany’s premier club to Manchester United in 2015, playing for the club for two years.
Despite his short tenure in Manchester, he is still much adored by fans for his time at the club, even if there were some incredibly difficult moments between him and Jose Mourinho. One new midfielder who Manchester United fans have rightfully taken a liking to is £60 million summer signing, Casemiro.
After initially starting his career as a Red Devil on the bench for the opening games, Casemiro was integrated into the starting XI by Erik ten Hag, who hasn’t looked back since. Casemiro has been nothing short of brilliant playing alongside Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes and is performing just as well at the 2022 World Cup, too.
Speaking to MUTV about Casemiro’s qualities, Schweinsteiger said: “He is one of the best, definitely in that position, at the moment.
“He sniffs the danger quite well. He is a good passer. He scored an amazing goal against Switzerland as well and he is a very important piece for the Brazilian national team.”
“He is one of the leaders there,” he continued, “and you can see that, and you can feel that and, yeah, I hope he can bring the sharpness back on the United field as well.
“But he’s doing a very good job at the World Cup, yes.”
Casemiro has been an integral part of Brazil’s World Cup campaign, marshalling the midfield and allowing the likes of Neymar Jr, Vinicus Jr, and Lucas Paqueta to flourish.
