Ayden Heaven made his Manchester United debut on Sunday evening during the club’s FA Cup defeat against Fulham.

Manchester United exited the FA Cup after losing on penalties against Fulham, with the Reds failing to provide much attacking threat.

Ruben Amorim’s side conceded the opening goal on the turn of half-half—once again from a corner—leaving them with an uphill task.

The response was sluggish, frustrating the Old Trafford crowd. However, as he has done so often this season, Bruno Fernandes stepped up, meeting Diogo Dalot’s low cross to fire home the equaliser.

With extra time failing to produce a winner, Fulham triumphed in the penalty shootout after Victor Lindelöf and Joshua Zirkzee had their spot-kicks saved.

Heaven impresses on United debut vs Fulham

One of the few positives United could take from the game was the performance of Ayden Heaven in extra-time, with the young defender making his debut for the club.

Heaven joined United in the January transfer window for a reported £1.5 million and has since been a regular on Amorim’s bench.

But it was not until Harry Maguire suffered a late injury where the 18-year-old was finally given his chance to make his debut.

Despite entering the game at a difficult stage, with Fulham pressuring United’s backline, Heaven looked assured defensively and good in possession.

It was a promising cameo from the defender who will be desperate to get more game-time in the back-end of the season.

Heaven reacts to United debut

Heaven took to Instagram on Monday morning to reflect on his debut despite the poor result for the team.

“Despite the unfortunate result , I am glad to have made my debut for one of the biggest club in the world,” he wrote. “Hopefully many more to come.”

Chido Obi was quick to respond to his teammate, who he also spent time with at Arsenal, simply commenting: “So proud of you mate.”

Obi was another bright spark in the game for United after he replaced Rasmus Højlund with 20 minutes of regular time to play.

The young striker managed to get on the end of several chances, making himself a handful in the box, but was unable to guide any into the back of the net.

Both of the teenagers will be thinking that they can put pressure on the underperforming senior players in the squad and start more games.
