Avram Glazer asked whether he will sell Manchester United, delivers abrupt one-word response

The Glazer family remain the majority shareholders of Manchester United despite Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS taking charge of operations at Old Trafford.
Manchester United supporters have detested the Glazer family ever since their leveraged takeover in 2005, which placed £660m worth of debt onto the club.
The American family have filled the 20-time Premier League champions with debt and their misguided leadership has steered the club into a horrid downfall ever since Sir Alex Ferguson stopped hiding the cracks.
Due to the dire financial state of the football club, the Glazers were forced to explore strategies to improve the situation, which included looking for a potential takeover.
In the end, British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS bought a minority stake in the club at the beginning of 2024, which has since risen to around 29% after further investment.
Ratcliffe’s team, however, appear to have almost full control of the operations at Old Trafford – Sir Dave Brailsford, Ratcliffe’s right-hand man, is regularly involved at the club while Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox were INEOS hires.
But after the latest financial results showcased United’s debt currently standing over £1 billion, the question remains whether the Glazers will sell the club. When Ratcliffe invested last year, rumours suggested that the long-term strategy was to take complete control of the Glazer family’s stakes.
Avram Glazer response to United sale questions
Avram Glazer, who the club’s supporters regularly chant against, was asked whether he is considering a full sale of the club by a Sky Sports reporter on Wednesday.
The 60-year-old attempted to walk away from Mark Stone, who also asked whether Ratcliffe is making things more difficult for him. “I’m on my way to see the President right now, I don’t think it’s appropriate to talk about it,” he said.
Then finally asked whether he will “sell up” the club, Glazer abruptly said: “No.”
This, of course, is not the answer that any United fans want to hear. While there has been so much attention on Ratcliffe and INEOS’ recent mistakes at Old Trafford, the cause of United’s problems are with the American family.
