Manchester United loanee Antony has hit the ground running at Real Betis, netting his second goal for the club during his Europa Conference League debut on Thursday.

Antony, the Brazilian winger, made the switch to Real Betis last month in search of more playing time after struggling for opportunities at Old Trafford.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim was open to letting Antony leave on loan, believing regular minutes in Spain could help him regain confidence and form.

Since his high-profile transfer to Manchester United in the summer of 2022, Antony has faced challenges in meeting expectations. However, his start to life in La Liga has been encouraging.

The 24-year-old was named Man of the Match in his first two appearances for Betis, setting up a goal on his debut before scoring in his second game.

His impressive form carried over into European competition, as Betis secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Gent in the first leg of their play-off tie.

Antony opened the scoring in spectacular fashion, cutting inside from the right flank before curling a superb strike into the far corner.

Antony’s honest thoughts on Amorim speaks volumes

Antony’s agent, Junior Pedroso, has discussed the player’s situation this week and explained his clients honest thoughts on Amorim and a potential return to Old Trafford.

While many have suggested that the Brazilian will depart the club permanently at the end of the season, Pedroso has not ruled anything out currently.

“Saudi and PL clubs wanted him but Real Betis was the best solution, he’s so happy there,” Pedroso told Fabrizio Romano.

“There’s no buy option and he respects Amorim a lot… his future at Man United remains an open story.”

It speaks volumes about the Brazilian’s thought process, with the winger clearly keen on returning to Old Trafford and succeeding after his loan spell.

While that is the exact type of attitude needed, it seems like something that just doesn’t make sense considering the club’s financial situation.

If Antony can raise his own value in the coming months, trying to cash in on him will make important space for the transfers which Amorim wants to make in the summer.
