Manchester United are starting several young players as Erik ten Hag’s Reds take on Lyon in their second pre-season friendly.

After Manchester United put Leeds United to the sword in a 2-0 pre-season victory last week, the club are loading up their second summer fixture ahead of their US tour.

Erik ten Hag and his squad are due to fly to America on Wednesday evening, and this fixture represents the perfect chance to get further key minutes into players such as Mason Mount, Jadon Sancho, and Antony.

Many first-team players returned to training last weekend such as Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, and Casemiro – however, these players will not feature against Lyon.

They will resume their pre-season training once the Reds touch down in America, and will likely feature against Arsenal on Saturday evening.

With no first-team goalkeepers travelling, this game represents the perfect chance for Matěj Kovář to show his worth to Ten Hag, and potentially break in as the club’s second-choice goalkeeper for next summer.

The full line-ups have been confirmed.
