Antony has sent a message to Manchester United’s chiefs as he continues to wait for a potential return to Real Betis this summer.
Manchester United are aiming to build on their summer signings, having already secured Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Diego Leon and Benjamin Šeško.
To raise funds for further reinforcements, the club is open to offloading a number of fringe players, with Antony among those made available.
The Brazilian winger, who joined United in 2022, struggled to make a lasting impact at Old Trafford but rediscovered his form last season during a loan spell at Real Betis.
While the La Liga outfit were initially expected to sign him permanently, they have so far been unable to meet United’s valuation and are instead pushing for another loan deal.
Antony sends fresh message to United chiefs
Updates regarding Antony’s potential move this summer have been few and far between, and that is no surprise considering the Brazilian’s stance.
According to Estadio Deportivo, Antony has told United chiefs that he only wants to return to Betis and is willing to wait until deadline day to make the move happen.
This follows on from reports which suggested those at Old Trafford were ‘frustrated’ by the Brazilian’s actions this summer. He is taking a similar stance to Alejandro Garnacho with his desired move to Chelsea.
But both players are eager to playfor their countries at the World Cup next year and neither of them would have any chance of being selected if they were sitting on United’s bench all season.
Antony shirt number news emerges
It has also been recently noted that Betis have left their no.7 shirt absent for the new season. Antony wore the number during his loan spell last season.
Marca claim that this will remain the case, with the shirt being left free in case of the Brazilian winger’s return to the club.

“I don’t know what will happen in the future, only God knows,” the 25-year-old said after his Europa Conference League final defeat with Betis.
“My work is playing, and I’m doing that well. I have a lot of affection for Betis, for everyone, but I have a contract with Man United, and I don’t know what’s going to happen; only they know what’s happening.”
