Amad has reportedly been ruled out for the rest of the season through an ankle injury, leaving Manchester United extremely short in attack.

Manchester United’s forward line has been largely disappointing this season but Amad has provided a bright spark in his breakthrough campaign.

The Ivorian started the season well under Erik ten Hag but slowly faded out of the team until Ruben Amorim took charge and made him a crucial player in his new system.

Whether playing at right wingback or in the frontline, Amad has been one of United’s best players since the Portuguese boss came in.

He has nine goals and seven assists so far this season, including some crucial strikes like against Manchester City and Liverpool.

However, reports came out on Saturday ahead of the club’s trip to North London to face Tottenham Hotspur which confirmed Amad has suffered a serious ankle injury.

It has been claimed that the issue, which was caused in training this week, could keep Amad out of action for the rest of the season.

He would become the second player to be ruled out for the campaign after Lisandro Martínez suffered an ACL injury at the beginning of the month.

Antony sends message to Amad after injury statement

Amad took to Instagram on Saturday evening to reflect on the setback and ensured supporters that he will come back stronger from the injury.

“[I’m] extremely disappointed to be writing this message in such a crucial time of the season,” the 22-year-old wrote. “Unfortunately, I will be out for some time with an injury.

I will come back stronger than ever!! Time to support the boys from the outside. Still loads to play for.”

Antony, who is currently on loan at Real Betis, was one of the first players to send their love and support to Amad.

The Brazilian winger replied: “Good recovery that you come back stronger Hermano 😓❤️”

Five Academy players involved for Spurs vs United

Amad’s injury has coincided with issues for Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer – which leaves Amorim extremely short in his team.

That has led to the promotion of several exciting youth prospects, including Chido Obi after his hat-trick heroics against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup earlier this week.

The young striker has travelled with the squad to face Spurs, while Sekou Kone, Jack Moorhouse, Harry Amass and Elyh Harrison have also been included in the travelling squad.

It remains to be seen whether any of the five youth players will actually appear for United on Sunday afternoon, but many fans will be hoping that is the case.

With all the negativity surrounding the club, fans could certainly do with some positivity through youth integration, but there also needs to be a level of caution as these players are vastly inexperienced and would be entering a difficult environment.
