Antony reveals the “most important thing” behind Real Betis loan success after Conference League goal
Manchester United loanee Antony scored his second goal for Real Betis on his Europa Conference League debut on Thursday evening.
Antony joined Spanish club Real Betis on loan last month as he was unlikely to get many chances in the team at Manchester United.
Ruben Amorim was open to allowing the Brazilian to depart and a loan to Betis was made to allow him consistent game-time and the chance to turn his form around.
The 24-year-old has struggled ever since joining United for big money in the summer of 2022 but he has made a strong start to life in Spain.
Antony received the Man of the Match award in his first two Betis appearances. He set up a goal on his debut before scoring on his second appearance.
He continued his solid form on his Europa Conference League debut as the La Liga side won 3-0 against Gent in the first-leg of their play-off round.
Antony scored the opening goal in the game. As he received the ball on the right side, the United loanee created some space for himself and curled a shot towards the far corner and beat the goalkeeper.
Antony reveals secret behind Betis loan success so far
United fans are pleased with Antony’s strong start at Betis – as he is only increasing his transfer value –but it is also confusing why he has started so well after his troubles at United.
Antony has explained himself that the “most important thing” behind his impressive start at his new club is the fact that he is happy on and off the pitch.
“I’m very happy for another goal, for the match and most importantly, that we won. We all played very well, including the energy,” the winger said after his latest game, as per Relevo.
“Being happy is the most important thing for me, me and my family. When you are happy, things happen naturally.
“The team’s victory is great, but the fans who have supported us all the time are very important. The victory is for them who were here from the first minute to the last.
“Mentally I was very prepared. When the possibility of coming to Betis came up, my head was already here. In my heart, I was 100% sure that I would be very happy here. I am enjoying every day. The club, the staff… everyone is incredible.”

Antony will be hoping to continue proving people wrong with his performances away from Old Trafford and the club will be keen for the same to happen.
But while those at Old Trafford are understandably behind Antony’s success on loan, as he can be sold for a higher price or return in better form, questions also must be asked why players seem to succeed when they’re away from the United pressure.
