Antony reveals bizarre “secret to redemption” at Real Betis after addressing Man Utd future

Manchester United winger Antony has revealed one thing that has helped him redeem himself on loan at Real Betis this season.

Antony was experiencing a very difficult spell at Manchester United since his arrival in 2022 and it was clear that his confidence was low earlier this term.

That led to Ruben Amorim making the decision to allow the Brazilian winger to leave the club on loan, and Real Betis agreed a deal with the Reds to take him for the rest of the season.

So far, that move has been a success for all parties involved. Antony is playing with confidence once again, Betis are climbing up the table in La Liga and United are seeing their asset’s value rise.

Antony has four goals and four assists in 11 games for the Spanish outfit and will be looking to build on his positive momentum when club football returns after the international break.

Antony reveals bizarre reason behind Betis turnaround

While it is clear that La Liga is less intense than the Premier League, many are still surprised at Antony’s improvement for Betis.

This week, the United loanee had an interview with Spanish outlet Relevo, who noted his “secret to redemption” in their article.

The 24-year-old explained that a personal diary, where he keeps notes on how to improve his game, is a factor behind his form.

“Yes, I still write about it. It’s very important to me,” explained Antony. “My wife and I are always together, setting goals there. We try to focus on making sure things go well.

“I’ve achieved a lot. Goals, assists, not losing the ball too much. I’ve got a lot going for me there. I have many goals and I’m always thinking about them.”

The former Ajax star also mentioned the importance of Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini, who has been a catalyst for the player’s improvement.

“He gave me a lot of confidence and has been very positive in helping me feel confident on the pitch as well,” the winger added.

Antony addresses United future and Betis rumours

Antony’s improvement at Betis has sparked rumours about it being a potential permanent home for him after his loan is finished.

It seems like Amorim is not considering Antony in his future plans at United, which is exactly why he was allowed to go on loan in the first place.

However, despite the noise around his long-term future, Antony believes that it is “too early” to be discussing what happens after this season ends.

“I don’t know, it’s too early to talk about that,” he told reporters earlier this month.

“As you say, I’m always enjoying every day here, I’m very happy, very content, and well, that’s always the way it is.”
