Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou sent a bizarre message to Ruben Amorim after his team’s 1-0 win over Manchester United.

Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League clash in North London on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams have struggled this season, but Spurs capitalised on United’s defensive errors to secure the narrow win.

James Maddison was the quickest to react when André Onana failed to deal with a shot from Lucas Bergvall, parrying it into a dangerous area and leaving Maddison with a simple finish.

Ruben Amorim’s side were wasteful in attack, with Alejandro Garnacho missing the best chance of the game in the first half.

Despite their struggles, Amorim was hesitant to make changes, making just one substitution – introducing Chido Obi in the 90th minute, far too late for him to make an impact on his debut.

Postecoglou sends bizarre message to Amorim

While the defeat for United adds pressure to Amorim and his squad, the result will do wonders for Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian manager has been under extreme pressure in North London due to his team’s poor form this season, although he has been dealing with injury problems.

United have had similar issues dating back to the start of last season, with Erik ten Hag having to try and deal with a torrid injury situation in the 2023/24 campaign.

While things had improved this term, United were without 13 first-team players against Spurs and had to promote seven Academy players to join Ayden Heaven and Victor Lindelöf on the bench.

When asked about his opposition’s injury troubles after the game, Postecoglou provided a bizarre response which raised many eyebrows.

“If I check my office, I don’t have any sympathy cards from other managers,” the 59-year-old manager stated.

“I could see Ruben there, players out of position, kids on the bench. Well, welcome to my world. But that’s for one game. Now do that for two months.”

United fans cannot believe Postecoglou comment

You would not find many United fans defending the manager or players after their performance on Sunday but many still questioned Postecoglou’s comments.

The Australian manager was in charge at Spurs throughout last season when United had worse injury concerns than he has had this season. And that was for a longer period.

One fan wrote in response to the comments: “Ten Hag had 65 injuries last year and won a trophy. Pipe down Ange.”

“Welcome to his world. We’ve had this since last season!” another added.

A third said: “If he checks his office he also won’t see any trophies, unlike Ten Hag who won 2 with more injuries.”
