André Onana has accepted responsibility for his part in Lens’ opening goal at Old Trafford as Manchester United get back to winning ways in pre-season.

Marcus Rashford scored two and Antony grabbed a further as Manchester United defeated Lens 3-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

André Onana once again displayed his unique style on the pitch this pre-season, and for the first time at the famed home ground – but Lens’ opening 50-yard chip put an initial dampener on the afternoon.

For the goal, Diogo Dalot lost possession on the half way line, and with Onana well out of his goal, a quick action from striker Florian Sotoca saw Lens given a lead.

Speaking on his first time playing at Old Trafford for United, Onana told MUTV: “Great experience. I’m happy with my first game here [at Old Trafford]. Proud of the team’s work. The most important thing is winning. I’m happy.”

“A warm welcome,” he continued. “I’m happy, especially with the victory. Now we have to prepare for the games to come.”

Speaking further on the game and the moment where Lens opened the scoring.

“I’m happy for the win. Of course, we can always be better. Some things we have to try to fix. Like I always say, I am responsible for everything especially when we concede goals.

“I’m the big man at the back so I take all the criticism, all the pressure on me. It was a great game for me and for the guys, some important goals and I’m happy for everything.”

“I think this year will be great, I am very excited for the coming games. I’m already excited for Wolves, but we will have to prepare well because it’s not going to be easy. Everybody is working hard and I’m very confident and positive everything will be right if we do the right things.”
