Amad told one improvement he must make to become complete Man Utd star, “It’s an education…”

Amad has been told that there is one ability he must add to his locker to improve on his already dangerous set of skills at Manchester United.

Amad has had a bit of a mixed start to his season, with the Manchester United winger still displaying glimpses of lightning pace and tidy dribbling in several great performances this season.

However, he is perhaps struggling to replicate the numbers that he was putting up for United last season before his injury in February.

Despite this, Amad was able to finally get off the mark for United this weekend with a stunning volley to help rescue a point for United away at the City ground after an end-to-end battle, which saw the points shared.

However, following being at fault for conceding the equaliser against Forest, a former United star has come out with a suggestion he believes could help raise Ivorian’s game to another level.

Robson’s guidance for Amad

While speaking to Grosvenor Casinos, former United captain Bryan Robson advised Amad on how to improve his defensive game.

“What Amad needs is certain people to help him out defensively to a degree,” the United legend said. “But what I would say is that for players who play in different positions, you learn the game that little bit more.’

“When he’s just that little bit older, he’ll understand the game more, whether he plays further forward up the park or whether he plays his wing back. So it’s an education for him being a young lad, but he has got fantastic ability, great pace.”

Robson also believes that the Ivorian could need to work on his decision-making in the final third, which would make him a much more complete player.

“What I’d like to see from just a little bit is the final crossing or pass be just that little bit better, because he can score a goal.”

However, despite the criticism, Robson was also very complimentary to Amad, with the former United captain believing “he could become a great asset for Man United”.

What’s next for Amad?

Following his sumptuous strike against Forest, Rúben Amorim and fans alike will be hoping Amad can continue providing United with more match-defining moments as the season goes on.

Following the integration of new summer signing Bryan Mbeumo, he and Amad have begun to strike up a great partnership down United’s right-hand side, often combining when going forward on transition, most notably away at Anfield when Mbeumo opened the scoring just past the minute mark following a through ball from the Ivorian.

However, United will face a problem as the African Cup of Nations comes around in December, when both will depart to represent their national teams and will hope to go far in the tournament.

With the Ivory Coast currently the 6th favourites and expected to go deep into the tournament, United will likely be without Amad for quite some time, and will hope that he is able to return to United unscathed and without injury.

In the meantime, with Noussair Mazraoui also away at AFCON with Morocco, United will likely look to return to playing Diogo Dalot in the right wing-back position until Amad’s return.
