Amad set to receive Manchester United boost vs Brentford after criticism for ‘slow start to the season’

Amad could be set to receive an important boost in Manchester United’s next game against Brentford after receiving criticism in recent weeks.

Manchester United have had a mixed start to the season, with just two wins in their opening six games across all competitions.

Even though the Reds have had tough fixtures in the Premier League – with games against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal – some of the performances have been concerning.

Amad was one of the club’s standout players last term but the Ivorian has had a difficult start to the season this time around. He is yet to register a goal or assist for the Reds even though he has started five games.

Some fans have been frustrated with the player, claiming that he has had a ‘slow start to the season’ and also criticising his recent social media activity.

Amad set to receive United boost vs Brentford

Most of the criticism around Amad seems to be over the top. He has had to try and develop a relationship with Bryan Mbeumo on the right, who is extremely different to the other right-sided no.10 options United had previously.

Amad’s usual attacking zones from wingback are taken up by Mbeumo and those two need to get more minutes on the pitch together in order to build a connection.

Unfortunately for Amad, that process was halted when Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha both suffered injuries before the international break. The 23-year-old has started out of position as the left-sided no.10 in the last two games.

But with both Mount and Cunha now back fit and available, Amad could be set to return to right wingback against Brentford and it will be a boost for him, as he can continue to try and grow that partnership with Mbeumo.

Amad deserves backing until he finds spark again

Some fans are concerned that Mbeumo and Amad are too similar in their approach to work together on the same side, but both players are intelligent and should be backed to work things out.

Both players can thrive on the touchline while also excelling when drifting inside, and that means things can be quite fluid on the right if they can make things click.

Once that relationship builds, Amad can slowly build confidence and hopefully find the form which made him a fan-favourite last term.

There seems to be a lot of criticism of the player right now, yet he remains hard-worker on the pitch and should be backed by the fans until he finds that spark again.
